Ready to become partners with the largest multi-channel retailer and start selling your products in front of millions? Here's how you can apply to become a Walmart Marketplace seller!
Just like Amazon or eBay, Walmart is also a huge platform that allows third-party sellers to list their items and get their products in front of a massive audience. Items listed will appear in search results on Walmart.com alongside other items.
Applying to become a Walmart seller is not as easy as applying to become a seller on other platforms. Walmart has been cautious about who they allow to sell on their platform. They have a more difficult application process and stricter requirements, which has been a huge roadblock for most eCommerce sellers.
5 Steps to Walmart Marketplace Application
However, if you're already an established Amazon seller, Walmart made it easier to apply. It gives you an advantage because it proves that you already have all the qualifications to sell on Walmart as well.
For non-Amazon sellers and those just starting up, here's a guide on how to apply and get accepted as a Walmart seller.
Walmart Seller Applicant Requirements:
1. US Business Tax Id. (SSN not accepted)
2. An attached PDF copy of your W9 or W8 and EIN Verification Letter from the Department of Treasury that verifies your US business address or place of physical operations.
3. US Business address or place of physical operations.
4. Planned integration method for your product catalog
5. Primary product categories (e.g. total number of SKUs you will be selling on Walmart.com, monthly revenue, used vs refurbished, etc.)
6. A list of marketplaces where you currently sell with direct links to the website
7. An explanation of why you are a good fit for the Walmart.com Marketplace.
Make sure that you have everything ready before starting the application because you can't skip any field and you have to upload all files required. If you have everything ready, the application should only take 10-15 minutes.
After you submit, the Walmart team will review your application thoroughly, which will usually take about two weeks. Once approved, one of their Business Development Managers will get in touch to help you with the verification process and to sign their Retailer Agreement for your onboarding. The entire process can take up to 4 weeks.
Here are a few tips to increase your chances of getting approved:
Show proof of marketplace or eCommerce success.
Review Walmart Marketplace’s Prohibited Products Policy thoroughly and make sure none of your products are on the prohibited list.
Provide as much information about your business upfront to save time.
Act fast to avoid any delays.
